I won't be able to be on for a couple of weeks due to my PC's motherboard being fried after a memory upgrade last night. I know I haven't been on much the past few months, but I thought I'd let you guys know.

All mapping projects have been safely backed-up on my external harddrive as well as other important stuff like music, wallpapers, savegames, and so on. So until then...

Sorry about the motherboard Jake, hope that nothing else was damaged. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Yup, I was thinking about just making a whole new PC instead of fixing my other one. Since now i'm getting a job at Mcdonald's (the other job ended very shortly because I just couldn't do most of the hours, plus with all the discord...), I figured I'd take advantage of it breaking and make a new one.

Yep.... I told you the little monsters would wear on you quick... didn't I? hehe

McDonald's is good for a while. But you may want to consider a retail grocery job, especially one that has a union contract. Union wages are sooooooooooo much better and the health, dental and pension plans are good to have.

Whatever you do just keep your goal in sight. Boy I sure wished I had gone to college.

yep school is the way to go but if you can't go full time, get in a trade, you work in the day and go to school at night. I did 3 years of night school at the TMA and then did autocad smartcam Gibbs Cam all at night after work. You will have no life for a while but in the end it will pay off.
I don't matter what you do as long as you challange yourself.

Actually I was thinking of all those college babes I missed out on... he he.

Toe is right though. My trade (sheet metal : s/s commercial kitchen equipment) has provided me with a pretty decent income and work experience. A good trade will serve you well.

I would have considered the local grocery store as well as the near by Best Buy (I even applied for a job there, though I didn't get hired), though the reason I picked Mcdonald's is because the school has a association with the one that's nearby. Which makes things so much better for me, plus I know quite a few people that work there.

I decided that I'd simply replace the motherboard with a new one, I've been looking at the ASRock motherboard that has both a AGP and PCI-E slot. Though finding it is quite hard (Newegg has it out of stock).

This being the one I was looking at...

Jake,
If you are considering the trades, look into welding. Once you attain journeyman status, you could specialize into pipeline welding, or underwater welding. Lots of adventure, big bucks and world travel. Then as you get older, you could become a trade instructor at a college and settle down . lots of diversification with the welding trade. We almost ended up in Saudia Arabia in 1967, even to applying for passports, but the Vietnam War was getting heavy, so we decided to stay in Canada, where I eventually ended up at the Crofton Pulp Mill. Ah to be young again.
